Weight Of My Crimes (feat. Boycott Love)

by Minami Deguchi

/

about

“Weight Of My Crimes” is dedicated to those with deep regret of their past actions, particularly ones which unknowingly broke the heart of their paramour.

Attempting to wear the shoes of another as a way to understand the true extent of your own actions towards them is pain-staking. Deguchi believed this was his own case for many months after permanently leaving his hometown to pursue his dreams in Melbourne. Though the past was behind him, was he truly able to start again until understanding what he’d done? As the months passed by and reconciles were made, the lyrics blossomed from an apology to a distant recount and the music healed from an escape from reality to a live expression of trauma.

The highly-anticipated new single embraces Deguchi’s cultural background, as the song hints J-Rock influences and even includes Japanese lyrics. Produced by and featuring the members of new Melbourne band “Boycott Love”, “Weight Of My Crimes” is set to cut deep into the heart of old and new listeners of MINAMI DEGUCHI.

lyrics

Debts are overdue billed by a broken heart
I need to pay amends
Knowing that it won’t help this situation
It’s the least I can compensate

Any string I try and tie from now
Has to bleed my fingers through the knots

(Let me feel) How you felt that day
(Let me feel) When I walked away
When I’ve understood the weight of my crimes
I think I’ve earned to start again

I deserve abuse, for not using words to
Ask simple questions of what she saw
Cause I put her in a place of pure guilt
Where she knew she’d hold me back
(If she asked to stay)

Any state of warmth I run into
I hope everything turns dysfunctional

(Let me feel) how you felt that day
(Let me feel) When I walked away
When I’ve understood the weight of my crimes
I think I’ve earned to start again

(Even though I write these songs,
The hypocrite in me has no words
When I’m actually confronted…
This is why)

Debts are overdue, billed by a broken heart
I need to pay amends
救えない状況で
俺ができること

(Let me feel) How you felt that day
(Let me feel) When I walked away
When I’ve understood the weight of my crimes
I think, I’ve earned to start again

(Let me feel) How you felt that day
(Let me feel) When I walked away
罪の重さを分かるまで
I won’t ever ask for happiness

I won’t ever ask for forgiveness (I chose life over love, I chose years over months)
I won’t ever ask for happiness (I chose life over love, I chose years over months)
I won’t ever ask for forgiveness (I chose life over love, I chose years over months)
